Hodge Properties

OUR Background

The Hodge Group ("Hodge") was established in 2004. Previous to this the principals of Hodge owned and operated Urbus Management Limited which was the corporate and property manager of NZX listed Urbus Properties Limited. In 2004 the management rights owned by Urbus Management were sold to ING (NZ) Ltd. In 2005 Urbus Properties was successfully taken over by the ING Property Trust (www.ingproperty.co.nz).

The genesis of Urbus Properties and Urbus Management was started by John Hodge in 1986 under the name of Waltus Investments Limited. At its peak Waltus Investments became one of New Zealand's longest-surviving property investment companies, and the largest property investment syndicator in Australasia managing in excess of $500m of commercial property.

In July 2003 Urbus Properties was successfully listed on the NZX and entered the NZX top 50. Both John and Shayne were Directors of Urbus Properties Limited.

The Hodge family has been in property since the 1940s when John's father joined Dunedin construction firm W L Tyrie as an apprentice, and later bought the company. John took over in 1973, gradually expanding his business interests.

The current Hodge principals are John and Shayne Hodge.

Hodge now uses its extensive investment and management knowledge and experience to finance, invest, and manage commercial property and business in New Zealand.
